Day 24

Just an FYI, as I was typing this post, my wonderful kitty decided she was going to step on the keyboard and mess things up.... so it probably won't be as good as the first one I started.

A photo of something that means a lot to you

This is a picture of the "future" and it does mean a lot to me. I'm constantly thinking and planning for the future, whether it's two hours from the present, or two years from the present. I have so many goals that I want to accomplish in the future, and I really don't want to disappoint myself. I don't want to look back on life and say "I wish I would have spent more time on that" or "I wish I would have done this differently." With that thought, I know that goals are ever changing and can sometimes not be accomplished the original way they were planned.

Some of my goals for the future are;
Graduate with a masters degree in Elementary Education,
Run my own preschool,
Have a family,
Stay home with my children,
Read 20 novels a year, and
To have a cute house.

Now, I realize that some of these goals may conflict with one another, but you never know what will happen.

So here's to the future, and living every day to the fullest :)

More Books!

In the last two weeks I've been able to finish two more books. I'm not really that great at summarizing the books because I usually spoil some big part or make no sense at all. The books were:

and

The Maze Runner was a new book and it was very interesting. It took me about 50 pages to actually get caught up in the book. It wasn't anything like The Hunger Games where my heart was racing, BUT it was VERY interesting and ended with a cliff hanger.Gregor the Overlander is a book that I had read when I was younger. I really enjoy reading books by Suzanne Collins and so I figured I would go back and re-read it. Gregor the Overlander is the first book in a series of 5. I'm excited to continue to read the series. It is definitely a book for teenagers, but I don't mind putting myself in them and living the adventure.

A Modern Classic

Well, I've finished another book! This one is a book that I've read before and will read again in the future. Now, not everyone will agree with me, but this book and the other books in the series are modern classics. Can you guess which book it is? Here, I'll give you a clue. HP.......

J. K. Rowling is basically a genius. The fact that she has created an alternate universe is amazing! I have a special place on my bookshelf for these books, well, I would if I owned the books.

The first memory I have of the Harry Potter series was back in 4th grade. My English teacher that year assigned us to read Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone and took it to the next level. She sorted us into the four houses and we were able to design our own shields to represent what house we had been placed in.

In 4th grade I was a couple years short of being 11, and after reading the first book of the series I couldn't help but wish for my letter welcoming me to Hogwarts. After realizing that Hogwarts wasn't an option I continued to read the rest of the series. I grew up with the books and if I can remember correctly each time a book was published I was right around the same age so I felt like I could relate to the feelings that the characters had. I became attached to the characters and cried multiple times when one was killed. The movies were never as good as the books, but they were needed. It's a little sad that the last movie is being released in 10 days. It makes it feel like the series is actually over and coming to a close. It's only sad because there will no longer be any books to anticipate the release of and no mysteries to solve, but there will be other series that I can anticipate releases of. I can also go back and re read the Harry Potter series and relive all of those emotions that my 11-17 year old self experienced.

Book 2

In all of my excitement for Disneyland I forgot to mention that I finished book 2 for the summer. I was reminded by a friend who mentioned it on her blog.

This book was written by P.C. Cast and Kristin Cast, it is number 8 in the series with number 9 being released towards the end of the year. Unfortunately with each book the story gets worse and worse. I wish that the story would wrap up and the series end, like 4 books ago. I know you're probably thinking "Holly, you don't have to continue reading it if you don't like it," and my answer "Yes and no." See, I'm the kind of person that if I start reading a book, or series, I have to finish it to see what happens. There is only one series that I have failed to finish, and that's only because the first book was complete crap and not interesting at all. So, here's to book 3, it will be better (because I'm already almost finished with it ;) )
