Day 24

Just an FYI, as I was typing this post, my wonderful kitty decided she was going to step on the keyboard and mess things up.... so it probably won't be as good as the first one I started.

A photo of something that means a lot to you

This is a picture of the "future" and it does mean a lot to me. I'm constantly thinking and planning for the future, whether it's two hours from the present, or two years from the present. I have so many goals that I want to accomplish in the future, and I really don't want to disappoint myself. I don't want to look back on life and say "I wish I would have spent more time on that" or "I wish I would have done this differently." With that thought, I know that goals are ever changing and can sometimes not be accomplished the original way they were planned.

Some of my goals for the future are;
Graduate with a masters degree in Elementary Education,
Run my own preschool,
Have a family,
Stay home with my children,
Read 20 novels a year, and
To have a cute house.

Now, I realize that some of these goals may conflict with one another, but you never know what will happen.

So here's to the future, and living every day to the fullest :)

Day 22

Because I don’t want to cause drama with this individual this “letter” may be vague. I’m the type of person that doesn’t sugar coat things and I’m very straight forward. The majority of the time it gets me in trouble. I don’t do it to be mean, it’s just a way of expressing myself. The times that I do keep things to myself are when I know that without a doubt, there will be drama caused. This is a new development in my life and sometimes I really struggle, so here goes nothing.

Dear _______,
What the #3L! happened? Things used to be great with us and then it fell apart…… I feel like you don’t ever think about how your decisions will affect others, and that you always do what you want, but that isn’t always the best for you. In the last year you have gone through a lot of hardships and I was so supportive, even when I didn’t agree and thought you were completely wrong, and now, after all of that it feels like you don’t even make an effort to spend time with me.
Now, I do realize that some of this is my fault as well because I don’t always reply to texts. I also realize that we are both busy, but I don’t always know with what. I spend a lot of time watching tv shows and reading….. I’m sure that you probably do the same thing. Maybe next time I’ll send a text your way. I would say that a phone call would be nice, but with us being in completely different stages of life, I’m not sure that we would have anything to talk about. As sad as that is, it’s the truth.
I was very sad when we started growing apart, but now it’s been that way for a few months and the pain has turned into numbness. I’ve learned to accept that things will never be the way they were before and that our friendship is turning into an acquaintanceship.  We’ve both moved on to different things, and I suspect that you are still going to want my support.  I don’t know that I will be able to do that again, but I will try. I will try for the sake of our “friendship” and because I try to have a good heart.
At this point I feel like it is useless to get close to others, because all the friendships I have had have fallen apart. Although, after searching for a while, I was able to find the good. You made me realize that I am not a very nice person and that if I want to continue having friends I need to become nicer and judge less. I have also realized why other friendships drifted apart and what I can do in the future to make friendships last.
I am not writing this letter to be rude, or hurtful, or mean. I am just simply, letting the world know how I feel.

Day 21

A photo of something that makes you happy

My little family

I'm so glad I was able to find this picture! I took this one night shortly after we got my kitty, Munchquen. I call her a crazy crack kitty because she has so much energy! She loves to run around and play. I feel kind of bad that she's been stuck in a small apartment for the majority of her first year, but she's managed. I'm sure she will go nuts when we move into our house next week. What's even better is that all the floors are hardwood or vinyl. It's going to be so funny to watch her slide through the house.

Anyway, these two individuals are what make me happy. Neight decided that we could get a cat after a year of me saying that I didn't like being home alone. Even though Munchquen sleeps most of the time, I still feel her presence and it's not so bad, but I still miss Neight. Neight is and always will be the love of my life. I'm happiest when we are spending time together, even when I read and he plays video games.... At least we don't text each other when we're in the same room.

For right now these two are my family, I'm sure that we'll have children eventually, but that probably won't be for a few more years.

Day 20

The meaning behind your blog name

I've never thought of myself being super creative, so I was in BIG trouble when it came to coming up with a cute and fun blog name. "Here's the story, Morning Glory" is a lyric from the musical "Bye, Bye, Birdie," I was in the musical my 7th grade year and it was super fun. I figured that having a semi unique blog name would describe me and so the blog was born.

It's not super interesting, but it is what it is.

More Books!

In the last two weeks I've been able to finish two more books. I'm not really that great at summarizing the books because I usually spoil some big part or make no sense at all. The books were:

and

The Maze Runner was a new book and it was very interesting. It took me about 50 pages to actually get caught up in the book. It wasn't anything like The Hunger Games where my heart was racing, BUT it was VERY interesting and ended with a cliff hanger.Gregor the Overlander is a book that I had read when I was younger. I really enjoy reading books by Suzanne Collins and so I figured I would go back and re-read it. Gregor the Overlander is the first book in a series of 5. I'm excited to continue to read the series. It is definitely a book for teenagers, but I don't mind putting myself in them and living the adventure.

Day 19

Things have been so busy and I am very far behind, so I'm not even going to try to catch up. I will just continue going day by day and hopefully I can finish eventually. So for today it is;  another picture of yourself.

Disneyland 2011

Yay for Disneyland and Tinkerbell!!!!!!!!!!!  That vacation was very needed! I had planned and looked forward to it for at least a year! It was a great way to start the summer, but once we got back reality hit HARD!!!!!! The saying "when it rains it pours" definitely explains my life right now. Usually I try to stay pretty positive about things and always looks for the positive in things. After everything that's happened I have finally been able to see a little positive.

Anyway, I hope everyone has a good day :)

Day 18

Something you crave a lot.

SWEETS!!!!!!!!!

But not those kind ^.

These kind

I LOVE fruit! and would much rather have a sweet fruit than sweet candy. I know it's super weird, but it keeps me healthy. I've always had a sweet tooth, but never really ate a lot of candy. Apples, pineapples, oranges, grapefruits! I love them all. My usual lunch contains apple sauce and some sort of yogurt, yummy!

Day 17

Well, before I get busy packing the apartment up I figure I'll to today's post, if the computer works..... It seems like everything else wants to fall apart or go wrong. So here we go;

A photo of you and your family.

Korous Family 2009
L-R: Johnna, Debbie, Isaiah, Neight, Holly, Alan, Jesse, Henry

For Neight's side of the family this is the most recent one that we have. It's from our wedding so the boys look super young, but not much has changed. Before getting married I only had sisters, but now I have 3 brother-in-laws and a sister-in-law. Isaiah is the cutest and coolest kid! Around the time this picture was taken, he didn't want anything to do with me. He wouldn't let me hold him and he wouldn't give me hugs. Now anytime we go over there he pushes Neight out of the way to get to me and won't let go.

Hanks Family 2011
L-R: Neight, Dad
Holly, Angie, Emily, Mom

Now for my side of the family. We're crazy, dramatic, and intense. We're a little smaller than Neight's family, but we have the same amount of fun. Emily is definitely the "center" of attention whenever we're together. Angie is the baby, and therefor the most spoiled, even though she denies it. Mom and Dad just sit back and enjoy the show. Whenever I give Angie a hug I like to tickle her sides. I can wrap my arms all the way around her tiny little body, it's a little harder with Emily, but I still attempt it.

This is definitely my favorite post so far. I love both sides of my family!

Day 16

Your celebrity crush.

Laugh all you want, but here are a few of my celebrity crushes:

Day 15

Something you don’t leave the house without.

And the answer is.... my cell phone. It sounds a little crazy, but it's so true. The only time that I don't have my phone with me is when it's charging and I have to go somewhere, other than that it's within 3 feet 24/7. Of course, I don't use it the entire time, but I like to know where it is. I've always been that way though, and I use phones until they wear out..... because of my luck that's only been for 2 years at a time. Maybe that's the way the phone companies set it up, typically after your 2 year contract you are eligible for an upgrade, but you do have to renew that contract with a new phone.

Anyway, back in March I got my first 'smart' phone, the BlackBerry Torch. I LOVE it! It has everything that I need, and more!

Day 14

A TV show you’re currently addicted to.

Lost..... It's a show that is intense and full of surprises. I'm only in the second season and have four more to go. I didn't watch this show when it was airing, but thanks to Netflix I am able to watch it anytime I want. At this point I've come up with two ways the show will end..... One, they will get rescued from their deserted island, or two, they will all die one by one. The second isn't a very happy ending, but they've already killed multiple people. Two of which were characters that I really liked. When I first started watching this show I would watch 3-5 episodes a day. Most of the episodes end on a cliff hanger and I just HAVE to watch the next episode to find out what happens. Since then I have had to limit myself to one episode a day so I can get other things accomplished, like all the reading I want to do. It's kind of nuts at what these writers' imaginations can come up with.

Day 13

Your favorite musician and why?

This is a difficult question because I listen to so many different kinds of music and so many different artists. My "favorite" musician is constantly changing. Currently I have two, both are very inspirational and independent women. The first is none other than the one and only:

I think the thing that I like most about Lady Gaga is how "in your face" she is. She doesn't care what people think about her and she appeals to those who are "different" from the norm. Now she's not perfect and has her faults, but I can't help but love her music! Each album gets better and I LOVE "On the Edge of Glory!"

And the second:

Katy Perry is beautiful and talented! She definitely has that "diva" personality, but don't we all. Katy has 3 kitties (like me! but I only have 1) and loves spending time with them. Her husband, Mr. Russel Brand, is a little...... weird...... but he makes her happy and really we're all just looking for somebody to love. Katy Perry has had a lot of songs that have become hits and become over played, but I'll listen to them anyway.

Day 12

A photograph of the town you live in.

Since Neight and I have been married (2 years) we have lived in three different apartments and in three different cities. We will be moving again at the end of the month, so I haven't really taken the time to wander around the city and don't really know of anything other than the routes I take to school and work. So, here are the pictures from this "wonderful" city.

Wheeler Farm is just up the street. They have a park there as well, I just haven't taken the time to wander over there and look at it.
Some logo for the city

Day 11

What’s in your makeup bag?

It's the bag of wonders! Men don't understand how to use half of the things in there and they don't quite understand why it takes women so long to get ready for the day. Neight likes to tease me about the different facial expressions I make. He tells me that I open my mouth weird when I put mascara on. I think he's full of it because I don't open my mouth at all.

I have the basics in my make up bag: mascara, eye shadow, applicators, cover up, eye liner, and lip gloss. I also have the not so basics: a pencil sharpener, tweezers, hair ties, bobby pins, and a weird little brush thing that I don't know the real name for.

I know that it looks like a lot, but I promise that I don't use all of it every day :)

Day 10

A photo of your favorite place to eat.

A Modern Classic

Well, I've finished another book! This one is a book that I've read before and will read again in the future. Now, not everyone will agree with me, but this book and the other books in the series are modern classics. Can you guess which book it is? Here, I'll give you a clue. HP.......

J. K. Rowling is basically a genius. The fact that she has created an alternate universe is amazing! I have a special place on my bookshelf for these books, well, I would if I owned the books.

The first memory I have of the Harry Potter series was back in 4th grade. My English teacher that year assigned us to read Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone and took it to the next level. She sorted us into the four houses and we were able to design our own shields to represent what house we had been placed in.

In 4th grade I was a couple years short of being 11, and after reading the first book of the series I couldn't help but wish for my letter welcoming me to Hogwarts. After realizing that Hogwarts wasn't an option I continued to read the rest of the series. I grew up with the books and if I can remember correctly each time a book was published I was right around the same age so I felt like I could relate to the feelings that the characters had. I became attached to the characters and cried multiple times when one was killed. The movies were never as good as the books, but they were needed. It's a little sad that the last movie is being released in 10 days. It makes it feel like the series is actually over and coming to a close. It's only sad because there will no longer be any books to anticipate the release of and no mysteries to solve, but there will be other series that I can anticipate releases of. I can also go back and re read the Harry Potter series and relive all of those emotions that my 11-17 year old self experienced.

Day 9

A photo of the item you last purchased

FOOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Now, the fridge and freezer don't exactly look like this. It's not nearly as healthy and it's got a lot more boxes. With Neight and I working opposite schedules we don't really sit down together for a meal throughout the week :( and so we stick to simple foods to make for ourselves. Maybe one of these days (probably in the far future) I will make a healthy meal for us and we won't work opposite schedules.

We have been eating a lot healthier since the beginning of the year. I have cut out soda and watch the calories that I take in every day. I've also started drinking milk every day (YUCK!) but it's all worth it in the end. Now I just need to work on keeping fruits and veggies stocked in the house, especially with it being summer!

Bigger and all month long?

In Utah our law makers have decided to change the firework laws. In previous years the state has only been able to use fireworks three days before and three days after the holidays, well starting this year we can use them the ENTIRE month of July. Also, now we can use bigger fireworks meaning that they can now go higher into the air. I'm not sure who's brilliant idea this was, but they obviously didn't think things through. Now, I'm not trying to be a party pooper, I am just very concerned. Obviously if people use them safely then the new laws will be fine, but we all know that won't happen.

Here's an example: last night when I was doing fireworks with my family there was another family doing fireworks three house down. Well, they had the bigger ones that go high in the air. Well, as the exploded in the air making the fantastic colors that we all love the pieces of the firework came showering down on us. Keep in mind we were three houses away. Luckily for us none of the pieces were on fire, but it still wasn't the best sensation. Obviously there was no common courtesy from the family down the street. If I owned a house I would be even more concerned with those big fireworks flying above my roof with the possibility of flying fiery pieces of fireworks landing on it.

So, here are my thoughts, why not make a designated area where families can go to set off the bigger fireworks, OR make it a rule that they should use common courtesy and let those around them know what is going on and how long they will be lighting those types of fireworks. This big fireworks are definitely not safe in neighborhoods with houses so close together.

With that being said, I'll get off my soap box. I hope everyone enjoys this beautiful day and realizes the sacrifices that our families, friends, and neighbors have made to keep our country safe. God Bless America!

Day 8

A song to match your mood

Oh my, this is a little challenging. This morning I'm in a very positive and good mood, but I feel like I've already wasted the day. It's kind of sad how that happens. I feel like I should have woken up earlier than 9:30, even though it's a holiday and I have the day off. Neight has to work today, so it's a little lonely, but I have my kitty to keep my company. There are a few songs that I can think of that might match my mood, but reading the lyrics makes them seem so wrong.

After about a half hour of thinking I'm just going to use Jennifer Lopez's "On the Floor." This song is catchy and I can't help but sing along and dance anytime I hear it.

Sunday, July 3, 2011

Day 7

Your dream wedding.

A picture is worth a thousand words, so I'll let them do the talking.

My wedding was perfect and everything that I wanted. My parents spoiled me with a beautiful wedding, even though at the time I probably didn't deserve it. On our wedding day, Neight and I were surrounded by friends and family which is all we really wanted. Some say that we were to young, and still are to be married, but two years later I am happier than ever. I call it my fairy tale because we are living "happily ever after."

Saturday, July 2, 2011

Day 6

A photo of an animal you’d love to keep as a pet.

I have been thinking about this all day and can't seem to figure it out. In high school I really liked frogs and still do. I even had one for a few days and honestly, it freaked me out. It made too many sudden movements and I didn't like that I had to feed it bugs. Talk about GROSS!!!!!! I think I will stick to stuffed frogs and figurines of frogs instead of the real thing.

Thinking about it, every time I go to the zoo I have to stop and see my favorite animal, the Red Panda. It is such a beautiful animal and reminds me a lot of a cat. Maybe that's why I like it so much.

The thing I love most about the Red Panda is their ADORABLE face. The big brown eyes and cute little nose!!!!! Oooo! I just want to squeeze it because of how cute it is! :D Of course I could never actually own a Red Panda, but a girl can dream, right?

Book 2

In all of my excitement for Disneyland I forgot to mention that I finished book 2 for the summer. I was reminded by a friend who mentioned it on her blog.

This book was written by P.C. Cast and Kristin Cast, it is number 8 in the series with number 9 being released towards the end of the year. Unfortunately with each book the story gets worse and worse. I wish that the story would wrap up and the series end, like 4 books ago. I know you're probably thinking "Holly, you don't have to continue reading it if you don't like it," and my answer "Yes and no." See, I'm the kind of person that if I start reading a book, or series, I have to finish it to see what happens. There is only one series that I have failed to finish, and that's only because the first book was complete crap and not interesting at all. So, here's to book 3, it will be better (because I'm already almost finished with it ;) )

Day 5

A photo of yourself from high school.

High school is an experience I never wish to have again, especially a high school graduation. Sure it was nice not having a ton of responsibility and the only worry was Woody's English class and whether or not my homework was finished for her. I was involved in student government all throughout high school, as well as orchestra and choir. My senior year I took on entirely too much, stressed myself out to no end, and lost a lot of my close friends. Senior year I was in orchestra and choir. I was a Student Body Officer and the editor-in-chief of the yearbook, and I had a part time job. I was also taking AP classes that included a TON of homework.

If I could go back and do it all over again, I wouldn't have involved myself in as much as I did. I still would have worked, because I needed the money for college, the AP classes would have been there, but I probably wouldn't have done student government and I would have taken a different approach to the yearbook (I still can't look at it and I've been graduated for 3 years.) Shoulda, woulda, coulda. I learned a valuable lesson, enjoy life.
